Main Stage Richmond CD
Entertainment:
On Stage:
Kari Maaren is a writer, cartoonist, musician, and reasonably grumpy university instructor. She’s been writing and performing geeky music in Toronto and elsewhere since 2011, and she has produced two CDs of original music, Beowulf Pulled My Arm Off and Everybody Hates Elves. Her first novel, the Andre Norton-nominated YA fantasy adventure Weave a Circle Round, was published in the fall of 2017. She has a completed webcomic, West of Bathurst, and an active one, It Never Rains, and she has won Aurora Awards for her music (2013 and 2015) and comics (2015). Kari lives in Toronto with far too many musical instruments and an astounding number of books.
Kraken Not Stirred is Nerd Rock written by a massive sub-aquatic monster and beamed into the head of its pathetic human minion.
If you grok songs about science fiction, fantasy and general weirdness, this is for you!
“Robots vs Monsters.” the latest EP from Kraken Not Stirred, has been nominated for a 2018 Aurora Award.

Masquerade:
A highlight of the Saturday evening, the Ad Astra Masquerade is a costume and sketch competition for costumes of any origin. To enter, please review the Masquerade information and check in at the Masquerade desk, across from Registration, outside Victoria Square
Saturday Night Dance:
After the Masquerade ends on Saturday night, stay for the dancing! The Saturday Night Dance is the place to be for a rocking good time. Masquerade winners will be announced and there will be a cash bar just outside the Richmond Ballroom.
DSoL, Th’Elf, J-Man, and DJ Dan, reunite to spin for our dancing enjoyment. And, of course, they take requests both onsite or in advance – just email dj@ad-astra.org.
